THE HARDING STORY

As foster parents, a goal is to attempt to have the children in your home involved in extra- curricular activities.  We signed up our foster daughter for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

In 1995, the organization was asked to select participants to race in Jensen Beach Kiwanis’ local soap box derby race.
Our 12 year old Monique was picked along with other
underprivileged children.

We had never been exposed to the soap box derby and immediately saw the benefit of this sport.  She won first place in the Stock Division that year and went to Akron.

The following year, she won the local in Super Stock, and in 1997 (the year Andrew was born and Robbie was only 6), she earned first place in the Masters Division of the local race.
Again, she raced in the All-American as a local champ.
Monique is now 23 and will always treasure her past experience with soap box derby.

And of course, the Harding’s have continued the sport with their children.
